Rail Bound Manganese crossings can have the manganese insert removed and replaced with a new/rebuilt one when the old one becomes too worn or damaged. The exchange procedure only takes a few hours and does not require any cutting or welding of the rail itself. It is a much simpler and faster process that replacing the entire RBM. The old worn insert will be rebuilt using the Hedkote® process.
